In the early 90s, I was in a rough place in my mind, trying to figure out who I was and where I was going. And to be honest, my future didn't look great. I was a skateboarder from a small town and I felt like an outcast in my community and even in my family. But when I heard the band 311 for the first time, their lyrical positivity changed something in me.
Over time, their music, their live shows, and their community helped changed my outlook and led me down a path that I never thought I'd go. And later, being lucky enough to work for them helped inspire me to create my own work for positive change. If it wasn't for these 30+ years of experiences, I surely wouldn't have the outlook that I have, nor would I be doing what I do.
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with the official 311 archivists: the 311 Odyssey Podcast. It was certainly a fun time sharing my history with the band, stories and visuals that I don't typically share, and how my life has come full circle with the band. I think 311 fans will love it and others will appreciate the journey. Enjoy.
